What happens to
your information.

This is written the way I'd explain it in the shop, not the way a law firm would. Here's exactly what's collected, what it's used for, and where it goes.

What I collect

The only thing on this site that collects personal information is the commission form on the Contact page. When it's submitted, it collects:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Type of piece and estimated budget (optional — general ranges only)
  • Whatever you write in the message field

That's the whole list. There's no account to create, no newsletter to join, and no other form anywhere on the site.

How I use it

Information sent through the form is used for one thing: replying to your inquiry, and — if a commission moves forward — planning and delivering the piece. It isn't used for marketing, added to a mailing list, or handed to anyone beyond what's described below.

Who touches it

This site is built with Astro and hosted by Netlify, a US company. The commission form runs on Netlify Forms: submissions are stored in the shop's Netlify dashboard and forwarded by email to hello@riversidewoodworking.ca. Because Netlify is a US company, your name, contact details, and message are processed and stored outside Canada, on servers subject to US law.

The site also loads two typefaces, Fraunces and Inter, from Google Fonts. Loading a font from Google's servers means Google receives the visitor's IP address — the same way any image or script loaded from someone else's server would. No cookie is set by this, and nothing about it ties back to your name or your message.

No other company, contractor, or service has access to what you send.

Cookies & analytics

This site runs no analytics, no advertising trackers, no pixels, and sets no cookies of its own. Nothing here tracks which pages you look at or how long you stay. The only thing resembling a spam-prevention mechanism is a hidden honeypot field on the commission form — it doesn't identify you or follow you anywhere else.

Your rights

Under Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA), you can ask to see what information the shop has about you, ask for a correction, or ask for it to be deleted. Email hello@riversidewoodworking.ca and I'll take care of it directly — no forms, no ticket number. If you're not satisfied with how a concern is handled, you can bring it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

Retention

Commission inquiries stay in the Netlify dashboard and the shop's inbox for as long as they're useful — generally the life of a project, plus a reasonable stretch after in case a question comes up later. If you'd rather your information wasn't kept, ask and it's deleted.

Contact

Questions about this policy, or about what's on file for you, go to hello@riversidewoodworking.ca — the same inbox that answers commission inquiries.
