Built-ins succeed or fail in the last eighth of an inch. This library wall was built to the room itself: scribed to walls that are never quite straight, with shelf spacing set by the books it would actually hold, and the fireplace kept as the centre of gravity.
It was assembled and finished in the shop in sections, then installed and trimmed in place — so the joinery happens where it can be done properly, and the fit happens where it matters.
